Praktikum in der Schweiz

June 2nd, 2009

Thomas Hirschhorn Exhibition – “Das Auge”

September 9th, 2008

Thomas Hirschhorn is a german artist and in July he had an exhibition in the Vienna Secession (an art gallery in Vienna). His exhibition was called “Das Auge” (the eye) and it filled an entire hall with plastic chairs, mannequins, big red traffic signs and pictures of dead or garbled bodies.

I was working at a forwarder (a company who moves things for people) and we had to put this thing into storage. The pictures and everything were disgusting and to be quite frankly I didn’t understand his art…

Some people I worked with knew this guy and his art and they told me that he is quite famous in the art scene, so I thought I should write a post about it.^^

I also made some picture while everybody else was working, but I worked, too, don’t worry…

Those are the boxes in which we put the smaller pieces and some mannequins. On the chairs, that you can see in the box on the right side, he taped paper heads of people to imitate an audience and the mannequins were all spilled over with red paint to imitate blood…

My colleagues working while I was taking pictures. It was almost the end, only some big pieces left and after that the hall was full…^^

Everybody who wants to know a little bit more about Thomas Hirschhorn or his exhibition can find a good article here (in german).
